Music as the path forward – join us in transforming the heart of Africa!

In the Sango language, “Beafrica” means the heart of Africa – that’s how the people of the Central African Republic call their country. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the second poorest nation in the world. We listen carefully to the heartbeat of Africa and we are there to help!

Through culture, education and aid: towards a better world.

The AKEDA Foundation co-creates the work of missionary Benedykt Pączka (OFMCap). In the Central African Republic, which has been struggling with internal armed conflicts for almost 60 years, the first music school was established – African Music School, as a remedy for war and trauma. Many years of presence with the population of the Central African Republic give the feeling that the slogan “give a fishing rod instead of fish” is insufficient. Actions are needed to stimulate grassroots initiatives supported by long-term coexistence and support.

Culture

Music is a language that doesn’t need words to connect hearts and guide the values of young people in need or crisis. We organize concerts, workshops, support artistic and scientific publishing – we build bridges of understanding between different communities as a counterweight to the bloody conflicts. We respect tradition, while also supporting growth and progress.

Edukacja

Education is the key to unlocking talent. Our programs offer opportunities to learn instruments, singing, foreign languages, and computer skills. Young talents gain the chance for a better life and the chance to develop their abilities through collaboration and creativity. For us, education and music are the pathways to a brighter future.

Pomoc

By supporting positive change in the lives of children and young people in the Central African Republic, you’re helping shape a better future for both the world and those affected by poverty, conflict, and natural disasters. We run programs that provide food, housing support, access to clean water, and medical care, while also creating new job opportunities.
African Music School is our flagship project, empowering children and young people in the Central African Republic to develop their musical talents while providing meals and medical care. Music education serves as a shield against the dangers of their reality, especially protecting the youngest from being recruited into armed rebel groups. The motto of the project is “Instruments instead of weapons.”

We are working to prepare the teaching staff at RCA to work in school. In addition to financial support, you can actively participate in this process. If you have the qualifications to teach and the willingness to travel, you can teach others how to teach. At African Music School, we have hosted many excellent musicians who have worked with the most talented students – the latter will join the teaching staff. You can also organize a concert by including us and our students in the project. Please contact us!
All donations received are used to implement our aid programs – you can indicate a specific purpose in your donation by entering the name of the project (choose from our foundation’s website or from the African Music School website). You can also allocate your donation for statutory purposes and we will decide which of the activities your aid will go to.
We are open to help in helping. The support of volunteers is sometimes necessary to implement projects – sometimes we need the strength of our hands to load donations into a container or help in organizing a concert, other times we may need specialist knowledge (IT, graphic, electrical, plumbing support). We also establish cooperation with musicians who want to join the African Music School project. We invite those interested to contact us and send their CV to: wolontariat@akeda.org.
